I had thought about this build a long time before Earl passed. A few days after the memorial service I decided to get it done. Here is the result of the build. First the rim is prewar mastertone cut down from a 2 piece flange style 3. There is a mastertone label and serial number. The lower rod hole at the heel of the neck is a bit oversize and poses no problem. You can't see it but I wanted to tell you about it. The flange is a Gibson USA nickel flange. The tone ring is a Huber triple gold Vintage Series ring. The hoop is Gibson 50's from a style 500. The armrest is 20's wide leg two piece and the tailpiece is pre war punched presto. The hooks and nuts are new. The resonator is new Huber granada style and the neck is built by Wyatt Fawley it is great feeling and new with no fret wear. It has the 1949 bowtie Brazillian board with the hearts and flowers peg head and gorgeous curly maple. The tuners are new Waverly V-2's. This is my effort and desire to build a banjo close to the banjo Earl played for many years. It has a great look as you can tell from the pics. The tone is incredible the playability is perfect. You will love this banjo. Feel free to ask questions and thanks.
