I had bought this Rim/Tone ring on the hangout last year and decide to do something with it a few weeks ago. The multiply rim is number 000575. from what I have found in my search for it's fabrication date it is a 1973 RB-250.
Multi-ply 3/4 inch thick rim with the original finish cut for a 2 pieces flange.
20 holes nickle plated flathead Tone ring ( plating is tarnish but no deep scratches and no dinks).
24 notches nickle plated brass heavy tension hoop ( plating has some wear but in very good condition)
New Nickle plated brass 2 pieces flange from J. Davis.
New nickle plated hooks and nuts from First Quality.
New hand made neck made of a curly maple blank from First Quality, rosewood 1/4 inch fretboard 26 1/4 inch scale ( no radius), curly maple binding with MOP side dots, Rosewood headplate and truss rod cover,ebony heel cap. 2 way adjustable truss rod, White MOP inlays.
Set of 4 Vintage Gibson tuners in very good condition and a new 5 strar fifth string tuner.
Bone nuts.
Almost new solid curly maple resonator refinished to match the neck. ( There are a few small dinks under the new finish)
Fults nickle plated brass tailpiece.
Strung with Earl Scruggs Gibson medium gauge strings.
5/8 adjusted maple and ebony bridge.
Overall the banjo look like new except for the tarnish plating and a few small dinks on the resonator back.
Great sounding bluegrass banjo with a very comfortable neck and a low action.
