Huber/Gibson/Warner Parts Banjo for Sale Here is a banjo that kinda evolved from a discussion I had with Steve a few weeks ago. There was a need for a Mahogany neck for a conversion project Steve was doing and I had this neck built by Chris Warner. The customer didn’t want a wreath pattern so it didn’t work for Steve then but we decided it needed to be on a banjo as it is a neck with mojo. It has a bit of age on it but no wear and his signature is on the heel where it touches the rim. The inlay is wreath and the board appears to be ebony. Small side dots typical of Chris’ work and aged binding (actually more from it being old than aged on purpose). Great action and playability. The metal parts are Gibson with the centerpiece being the frequently discussed “mystery ring”. Having the parts on hand, but no rim for them, I persuaded Steve to turn one of his standard (not engineered) rims to fit the parts and he, as usual, took the task and ran with it. He stained and finished the rim to the 1930’s color typical of the style 3’s of the day. He also had a resonator without a home and it was finished to match the neck and it does perfectly. The banjo was assembled and topped off with a Huber bridge, strings and pancake copy tuners for a look of the old flathead wreath style 3 banjos from the golden era of Gibson. One note on the metal, it is Gibson hardware that has been aged by a newer technique at the Huber shop. It really looks old and is very new. Look for this option possibly on some Huber models in the near future but for now it makes this banjo work. This is a copy using Gibson and Huber parts. It is as good as you could ask for in terms of tone and playability. It mics well and sounds great on stage. It also is killer in a jam with more than enough volume and tone. If you are looking for a professional quality banjo as an upgrade or a second banjo to take out to festivals and jams in the summer heat…..this is it! Take a look and feel free to ask any questions. It really doesn’t get any better than this banjo. thanks
