I am selling this Gibson Mastertone banjo for a friend. He bought it brand new in 1998, and it has hardly been played at all. He bought this banjo and a Gibson F-5G mandolin on the same day, with the plan being that he and his wife would learn to play together. Well, his wife got sick and eventually passed away. My friend was, of course, devastated by the loss of his life-long partner, and he sort of went into a funk for a few years. He's better now, and decided these instruments need to be put in the hands of people that will use them. The mandolin sold the first day I put it up for sale. The new owner couldn't be happier with it. Hopefully this bonafide Gibson RB-75 banjo will be able to tell a similar story. Pictures are included below. Let me know if you would like to see pictures of any specific parts of the banjo, and I will get them to you. I have also included a bit of video (see below) showing Tim Carter, of The Carter Brothers, playing this banjo at a festival we attended a couple of weeks ago. Tim adjusted the head tension, and now this banjo sounds just exactly the way it is supposed to. I put fresh strings on it last week, as well as a new set of tuner knobs, as the ones on it were a bit checked. It has a Snuffy Smith bridge on it, as I believe that is the way this model came. I can include a Cumberland Acoustic bridge with it, if you like, as I make those bridges, and I think I still have some that say "Gibson" on them. Might be a nice match for this banjo! This banjo shows no signs of wear. No dings, chips, scratches, fret wear, or anything like that. The head even looks brand new. Comes with a harshell case and two day trial period, if the banjo will be shipped. We are in the Nashville, Tennessee area, and the banjo can be seen/purchased locally, as well. Here's some video of Tim Carter playing this banjo at a recent festival... http://youtu.be/KdH0hrzBfxY I just reduced the price to $3250. The local phone number here is 615 826-7890, or I can be reached by e-mail at cumbacoustic@aol.com. Thanks for looking!
