Up for bidding is a very beautiful original Gibson Mastertone RB-800 banjo. Serial No. 81041XXX. Located inside the resonator is the Gibson label marked Made in USA, Kalamazoo, MI. Banjo was bought brand new in 1981 by my father-in-law and was in use for about 10 years. He was a meticulous man and his banjo's condition will reflect so as you can see in the pictures. The banjo is in marvelous shape, it has been played lightly so there is some very minor wear and it is specifically on the armrest. But the wood and finish are essentially mint. Even though there is minor wear on the gold I really don't think this has been played very much, if at all. The fretboard and frets are perfect. This banjo was inspected by Mr. Gruhn himself of Gruhn guitars while my husband was in Nashville. Mr. Gruhn instructed him to never sell it, but my husband has decided it is time to let this beauty go. Original Gibson case included.
