This is a 1984 Gibson Earl Scruggs banjo. The serial number is 0324. The Mastertone label was hand signed by the late Mr. Scruggs.

It's in excellent- condition. The only real issue is a small professionally done repair to the neck as shown. It's rock solid, and should never pose an issue. It cannot be felt, only seen. The banjo appears to be all original, with the exception of a new Remo head. There are a couple of tiny sliding capo holes in the neck. Fifth string capo spikes were added on the fretboard to take it's place. Still has the factory Schaller D tuners.
The year 1984 was the first year of production for the Earl Scruggs Mastertone banjos. Only the first 1984 instruments were hand signed by Earl. This is definitely a collectible piece of modern bluegrass banjo history.
