Here is a rare and unusual Instrument......DeWick Tenor Banjo, c. 1922, made in Brooklyn, NY, natural varnish finish, figured maple neck and rim.... with many unique features including an enclosed back, rim countersunk into the resonator, and a patented neck angle adjustor cradle. Even stranger is the inside: an archtop tone ring and acoustic tone chamber with round holes venting into the resonator…all made of wood! I have fashioned a custom tailpiece which puts more downward pressure on the strings, the original tailpiece holes have been used to affix it and the original "no-knot" style cast bronze tailpiece is in the case if you wish to re-install it. I have installed geared tuners from Smakula with small size posts so the size of the original headstock tuner holes has not been altered...... This banjo even without a metal tone ring is surprisingly loud, bright, and full sounding, with something of an old timey character. The slightly shorter scale length of 21 1/2" and the slim neck would make this a nice instrument for a younger player or a lady perhaps? It is a very well constructed Instrument, Rare ,and Highly collectable. Comes in original case with Princeton University crest from the Original Owner ....
