I'm parting with my lovely Cedar Mountain Banjo, as I just haven't been playing as much as I used to, due to my busy schedule and the fact that I'm getting married and in the process of selling my home, so I'd like this to go to someone that will appreciate and play it.
Lo's banjos are amazing! They have a sweet tone and a simple, and understated beauty. I bought this banjo in Nashville at Gruhn's in February of 2008. It's number 377 and it's an A1 model with the frailing scoop, which is what the S stands for in the photo of the back (available on request). It also has the ginseng inlay on the headstock and a "Dobson"-style heel.
I've taken very good care of this banjo. When it's not being played, it has been in the case. I changed 4 of the tuners to Stew-Mac 5 star tuners and have the 5th string tuner as well, which I planned on having a reputable luthier replace, but never got around to. The original 5th string key plastic broke and I placed a new key on the shaft, but it does not fit properly, as it's made for the 5 star tuners, so it's not fully mounted. All new and old tuners are included, plus additional keys. The nickel plating on the hardware could use a little polishing, but is in good condition otherwise.
I recently installed some Aquila Nylgut strings on it, just for an experiment. Not sure how I feel about them yet, but there were no modifications to the banjo to facilitate this experiment, so the banjo is still set up for using conventional strings. Also, there is a K and K twin infinity pickup installed, for those that wish to use it in a live setting and need the volume.
I've sold a number of guitars, banjos and basses over the years through ebay, craigslist and local formats (the want ad) without any problems or complaints. I'm not out to make a bunch of money, just to sell off some things I am not using. If you're interested, and would like to know more about the banjo, please let me know. This is my first listing and post here, and I'd prefer not to list my home address and phone number, but you can contact me if you have a question and if email isn't working, I'll give my number and we can continue the discussion in that manner.
Currently, I don't have a box to ship this in, as I was trying to sell it locally on craigslist and didn't expect to post it online, but I'm not sure true banjo players are looking on there for a quality banjo, so I figured this might be a better place to post. If you're interested in buying the banjo, and you don't live a stone's throw from me, I can get a box and get a price quote to ship it.
