This is a souped up,modified and synth ready Deering Crossfire electric banjo. It’s been sitting in a case unplayed for the last 10 years. I bought and used it in the nineties with my (Flecktonish) band.
I’ve replaced the pickups with a very hot and sweet sounding pair of emg pickups. I’ve also had a Roland gk2 synthesizer pickup retrofitted on the banjo. You can use any of Rolands guitars synths with this pickup. I had used a vg88 and also a gr20 which both worked and sounded extremely well. Roland has a new synth out called a gr 55 that’s supposed to sound fantastic as well. With the synth pickup, you can combine the synth sounds with the regular banjo pickups sound or use either one separately, a very nice option. The banjo has separate tone and volume knobs along with a 3 way pickup selector for the installed emg pickups. I also have a strap-lok system installed on the banjo (good strap included) which makes it very secure and easy to put on.
The banjo is in very good condition (few very minor scratches) and have never had any problems whatsoever with the banjo. The action is currently set very low but can be easily tweaked in less than a minute to raise it.
These now cost new ( but unmodified) for over $3000. The original case is included along with the custom synth cables and strap.
