This banjo was bought in 1983 and is in excellent condition. Has been well taken care of, no fret wear, and neck is true. Has great action, plays extremely easily, and has a loud, ringing sound. I researched this and cannot find much info, but an experienced banjo player, Mike, wrote this to me in answer to my request for his expertise on Vegas:
"Definitely the Asian Tubaphone. The holes are punched, not drilled like the USA versions. These are somewhat rare and were the upper end Galaxy Vegas. The pie-plate resonator copy with the name in the middle is another hallmark of these. I have not seen one with a relatively plain neck before - usually the inlays are fancier. I like the understated look a lot. I am a big tubaphone fan myself and wouldn't turn one of these down as a backup for one of my stage banjos."
Comes with hard case that shows little wear.
