I bought this GTR new from George Gruhn in late 1975. I am a pedal steel player and just dabbled with banjo on the side, got good enough on it to make people think I could actually play it and used it on stage anywhere from 3 to 12 songs a night for 7 years so this is a real road warrior and while it is in excellent playing condition it shows the results of all those nights on stage. I am not much of a photographer, it really looks OK from the front but the back and sides of the resonator are pretty rough and my pictures don't show that very well.
About 15 years ago I bought a new Superior case for it as the original case was mostly held together with duct tape. About 8 years ago I treated it to a Kyle Smith set up which included a new head, bridge and ivory 5'th string nut as well as leveling, crowning and shaping the frets and recutting the heel of the neck for a better fit so it sounds really good and plays superbly in my opinion and it has not had a whole lot of playing time since the set up. It has 4 spikes on the 5'th string from A to C and I don't believe the tailpiece is original. This is a well made banjo that never let me down in all the years I used it and is ready to serve someone else well for many more years to come. $875.00 OBO and I will be happy to answer any questions you have.
