A friend of mine owns a retail shop where this banjo was returned a couple days after purchase. He called me and said he probably wouldn't be able to sell it because it is such a high-end instrument, and asked if I could help him sell it. I inspected it, and it's absolutely brand new...no dings, no nothing. It still has the tags on it. I think it was probably bought as a gift for someone (maybe themselves), and then decided they couldn't afford it...or someone else in the house helped them decide they couldn't afford it. Ha! Anyway, it didn't have a great setup, and I wanted to make sure everything was okay with it. Steve Huber is a friend of mine and his shop is near my house. I took this banjo up to him last week and he went through it...complete setup. He verified that everything was a-okay. I didn't have him put any 5th string spikes in it, but if you buy it and want spikes, I'll have Steve put them in whatever frets you want. As you know, Steve is the banjo king. I honestly have to say this is the loudest banjo I've ever played. I was going to keep it for myself, but I already have 4 and I just can't use it, though I would love to have it. There are pics of the banjo and you can read about the specs of the Golden Wreath on the Deering website. It still has the warranty card attached to the headstock, and it's technically never been owned by anyone, so I assume you'd be good for a full Deering warranty. You might want to check with them about that. The only reason I didn't list it as new is because I want to be sure not to misrepresent it in anyway. To me, it's new. It was bought and returned a couple days later in original condition....same strings, everything. These banjos list retail on Deering's site for about $4,600...I think you could probably find them new for $3,800 or so. I take great care in shipping any instrument, and as I mentioned, I can have it set up by Steve Huber however you'd like before I ship it. Email/message me with any questions. I think I may do a video on my website with it to let you hear how it sounds. It is loud. Very punchy, and after Steve set it up, it's extremely easy to play.
