This is a really good sounding solid prewar style 3 Mastertone banjo.
Serial is 9489-95. Joe Spann said this banjo shipped out from Gibson in Dec of 1929. This is not a fat rim prewar. I believe the rim thickness at bottom measures around .610.
Rim is uncut, Steve Huber fitted it with a vintage Huber conversion flathead ring 7 or 8 years ago.
prewar flange is nice and flat!
Has a Gibson JD Crowe mahogany neck, 5 star tuners.
Snuffy Smith head and .656 bridge.
Original finish on rim and resonator.
If you are looking for a solid prewar style 3 that has that strong 4th string growl and prewar tone this it is!
Comes in a good TKL hardshell case.
I will take more detailed pics if needed..........
