Serial number 8215-7 ball bearing conversion. The rim has been cut to fit a pre war chrome one piece flange and a Huber HR-30 chrome tone ring. The holes in the rim have not been plugged as I used a 3 lb. 3 oz. weight ring. The hoop is modern Prucha, hooks and nuts pre war chrome, tailpiece pre war Grover clamshell chrome, armrest pre war 2 piece chrome. Original chrome rods (smaller ones) and resonator hardware. Pre war grover 2 band tuners nickel. The resonator is original and has been oversprayed on back. It has the smaller rings in the back. the neck is Huber hearts and flowers. This banjo was built to resemble the original RB-4 that belongs to Butch Robbins and well documented in Jim Mills' book. I met Butch at TBI in the 90's and felt his banjo was one of the easiest playing best sounding banjos I had ever played. I always wanted to do this build but never came across a two piece style 4 to use until now. As with most of the conversions I have done lately, this one is really fun to play. The dimensions of the neck were taken off the Wade Mainer banjo while at Huber's shop. It makes for a really nice playing and sounding banjo. Now being the builder and converter it makes sense that I'd brag about it so without much hype, I feel this is the top one or two banjos I have converted. It notes and plays like a dream. If you are looking for a monster banjo you need to give this one a try. comes with a new hardshell case. Feel free to email with any questions and thanks. D
