Distressed Minstrel Banjo, made to look OLD. This replica is fashioned after the 'Henry Stichter Banjo' of 1848. It represents one of the earliest wood rim banjos. The original had a 31" scale. This banjo is scaled down to 29" - making it feel 'normal,' and only slightly longer than modern banjos. It has real gut strings which sound lower in pitch. Open G is not possible, but Open D is used, and the minstrel tuning of dGDF#A. The total length is 43." The nut width is 1 7/16" The oak rim is 13" in diameter and 3 1/2" deep. All hardware is handmade brass. The pegs are African Blackwood. The neck is hard maple. The end of the black neck area represents the 5th fret, the scribed line represents the 7th fret, the next line represents the 9th fret. PERFECT for Civil War reenactors or banjo players looking for the big sound of the past. Shipping is FREE in the U.S. ($40 value). No international shipping.
