UPDATE 20 October: Now accepting PAYPAL. A recent American Made Banjo (AMB) Company Kel Kroyden ‘Casey Henry’ model ARCHTOP 5-string in near-mint condition. The finish on this lightly stained maple wood instrument is free of any scratches, dents or buckle rash – it’s pristine. With the exception of the armrest, which has a little bit of tarnishing, all nickel plated hardware gleams. Absolutely NO FRET WEAR -- this instrument was a special order and features STAINLESS STEEL frets. This particular Kel Kroyden was ordered with a Dannick archtop tone ring, and the sound of this banjo really cuts through a crowd of pickers; however, the Remo Renaissance head with a Desert Rose Elite Z 5/8" bridge affords the notes a bit more depth instead of an in-your-face harshness. The mother-of-toilet-seat (MOTS) fingerboard has professionally installed fifth-string capo spikes at the seven, nine, ten and twelve fret positions. And speaking of MOTS, the design on the back of the resonator does not line up exactly with the centerline of the neck, it’s kilted a couple of degrees to the right (see supplied photos). I don’t know how much of an issue this would be to you but suffice it to say, it doesn’t affect the banjo’s playability one iota. This banjo comes with a new Guardian hardshell case that sports plush green padding. Additionally, this case is equipped with an analog hygrometer built into the compartment flap. The hygrometer was removed from its mount hole and placed in the accessory compartment because it comes uncomfortably close to the back of the neck when the banjo rests in the case; it can be easily reinstalled with double-sided tape at any time, however. The reason for selling this banjo: I own another (older) AMB Kel Kroyden archtop built with dark-stained walnut wood that has been played in and loosened up for a couple of years, and it now sounds fantastic. The older Kel Kroyden fits me to a tee and I no longer see a reason for keeping two. The $2,499 sale price of this near-mint Kel Kroyden ‘Casey Henry’ is FIFTEEN-HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS than the $3,999 price advertised at Janet Davis Music. This banjo is priced to move, so don’t wait!
