Original owner bought this from Providence Guitar & Banjo in 1978 and it seems to have spent most of its life inside the original superior case. No damage anywhere and few signs of wear aside from the typical fading to the nickel plating that makes it look older than it is. The tailpiece and other contact areas have some oxidation which adds to the character of the banjo in my opinion so I've never made any attempt to clean or polish it away. Standard catalog description...Hearts & Flowers inlay, double cut peghead, flathead tone ring, 3 ply rim, one piece nickel plated flange, presto 5 string tailpiece, mahogany neck, bound ebony board, etc...it's all original including the blue line superior hard case with key. No label on interior of rim and no sign of ever having one...like most all these early made in Japan Gold Star banjos, it sounds like bacon smells and this one plays great too. Might trade for newer similarly original Gold Star flathead and $600 cash. prefer local since shipping these mahogany neck heavyweights can be tricky. Had lots of ? regarding cash only price. ...twelve hundred cash might work. Cash or postal money orders.
