Hi folks, I know it's unusual for me to post anything for sale besides my own instruments, and I normally don't, but a good friend passed on about 5 years ago and I'm helping his widow move 4 instruments. This is the first I'll offer. It is the instrument that New Grass banjo was conceived on! Courtney Johnson, the original banjo player with New Grass Revival, used this banjo throughout his career with NGR and recorded the NGR albums with it. It's an old Gibson -11 (complete with the wrong label installed in the rim), converted to a flathead with a Faulkner tone ring. Neck by his wife Hazel during her GTR days. Rim is 0.597" thick. Some set-up work and a refret was done by MArty Lanham after it was purchased 6 years ago, and documentation from Marty is included. It includes the case he toured with as well as his strap.
