For Sale or Trade: 1951 Gibson with vintage no-hole archtop ring - $2,400 USD

This is a very special Gibson archtop. It started as a 1951 TB-100 with a double-bound resonator and three thumbscrews. Very early post-war pots like this are widely believed to be leftovers from pre-war production. I'll let Gibson historians debate that. The tone ring is prewar, a 1927 "No Hole'' archtop that I purchased directly from Jim Mills. The neck was shaped, stained and finished by luthier Richie Dotson. The neck is slim and the action low with a full set of spikes and Keith tuners. This banjo is, by far, the best archtop I have heard, and certainly owned. It sounds very close to a prewar flathead in tone, but has that archtop pop. The neck is new and the pot has some checkering and surface wear. The metal is all original, except for the tail piece, which is older and Gibson stamped. Comes with nice HSC. I have sold and purchased several banjos on the site, so no worries. TRADES? Never say never. Maybe the right Stelling. Thanks for looking.
