Nice 24" scale 1870s banjo. At least I assume it's 1870s as that is what it appears. No makers name on it. Very simple. Calfskin head--older and very light. Someone penciled "This Instrument Heals The Soul" long ago lightly around edge of head. 11" rim. Light spun-over rim. Flush frets--appear original. Shield brackets. Wonderful patina to metal on rim. 24 hooks. Some hooks appear to have been replaced. Has a slight bow to neck that has never been a problem--it's not a fretted instrument. The fifth string peg pops out if not firmly pushed in--perhaps someone can fix that but I've never needed to. Violin style friction pegs. Bone or ivory tailpiece. Overall neck is very nice. Currently has 3 gut, one wound (4th) and one nylgut (5th) strings. This banjo has a nice light sound. Email with questions: nevadamusic.com@me.com
