This TB-1 is a players instrument. Set up by Charlie Cushman who stated he had never heard a better sounding TB-1. Snuffy Smith bridge, 4 hump tailpiece, all original pot with the exception that the rim has been turned to fit a Tenn 20 tone ring. Hooks and shoes are original. There is a small indentation on the neck behind the 2nd fret that I assume was from an ill fitted capo. Binding was added to the upper edge of the reso that is a little bit whiter then the original bottom binding. All other hardware is original altho' Mr. Cushman said the engraved nickle tension hoop may have been from a different model banjo but from the same era. I do not know who made the 5 string neck but it plays like a dream. I will ship the banjo in the Gibson case shown, detuned and packed with Styrofoam peanuts in a good well padded cardboard banjo box.
Info I forgot to put in the first posting, as follows:
1.The headstock must have been snapped off at sometime in its life but it was doweled and re-glued with the crack almost invisible and no apparent damage at all to the veneer face. The neck has been a rock as far as that goes and after all is said, it may be even stronger because of that. (See last 2 pics)
2. It was told to me by the guy I bought it from over 15 yrs ago that it had a Tenn 20 tone ring but I've never had it apart so, the best I can tell you is, maybe it's a Tenn 20 or something else. There are no identity makings visible inside or out that I can see and I don't plan to take it all apart and possibly ruin the tone it has after all the yrs the parts have been married together.
Any questions just put in an email.
