Original 1928 Gibson TB-3 Mastertone Tenor Banjo conforming to all normal specs for the model year with 40 Hole Arch Top tone ring, full thickness three ply maple rim, dark stained Resonator, tube and plate flange. Though it is pictured set up converted with a 1970's RB-250 five string neck. We received this as an original tenor in the original case with the Gibson wrench with a Rogers skin head that is not torn. We wanted to hear what it had to offer , so Jane installed the neck and a standard frosted plastic head, and this is nothing short of wonderful pre-war archtop sound with loads of volume. She put the Presto-like tailpiece on, as you can see, the original presto is in the case with no cracks or bends. Ideally , this banjo should sell returned to the original tenor configuration, with the original presto, wrench and case, and neck, and the new owner can play it as a tenor, or have the neck of their dreams built by their favorite maker. If you are fortunate and can come into the shop to play it as a five string, you will be most pleased. Feel free to call and discuss the possibilities. We would are asking $3450 WITHOUT the RB neck (it would be a shame to orphan the pot that it belongs to). Shipping will be $100 Fedex fully insured in the CONUS. Please review the pictures, there are lots of them. As you can see there are some scratches on the back of the reso, and one scratch on the inside of the rim. Dr. Ralph would be happy with this Mastertone!
