Tubaphone 5 String Conversion, revised photos
In many ways, this banjo is the best of both the old and new worlds! It started off life as a 1926 Vega Style M 4-string (tenor) banjo. Original pot, Serial # 71996, assembly features 11 13/16-inch 1960's Ode Trademark, head and Tubaphone tone ring. It has been matched to a Bob Carlin Signature Series BC-350+ neck, a gorgeous work of art as well as a joy to play. This model is an upgraded version of the BC350 featuring a vintage brown mahogany with an ebony finger board and exquisite vintage Orpheum inlay style highly acclaimed during the heyday of the banjo, and a beautifully inlayed elaborate head stock design. The friction type tuners have been replaced with same period geared Grover 2 tab tuners. Other features include a scooped fingerboard, 26 3/16 scale and a nut width of 1-3/8” and the action is +/-1/8” at the 12th fret with a 5/8 moon bridge and a Presto tailpiece.
