The first question is why cherry? I have cherry in several of the floors in my house as wells furniture and cabinets. It wears well and finishes beautifully. Cherry is a hardwood very similar to straight grained maple. To my old ears it sounds like maple but gives a different appearance. I had Sullivan Banjo make up a Vintage 35 in cherry and it was a killer banjo. The heart if this banjo is also a Sullivan Factory Floor Rim mated to one of their Vintage 35 rings. Currently setup with a Kershner tailpiece though a Presto can be substituted. The laminated cherry neck started out as First Quality stage 4 neck with a 2 way truss rod installed. The ebony fingerboard is bound in white/black/white (WBW). Waverly tuners are used throughout. The matching Gill resonator is bound in matching WBW and WBW concentric rings are installed in the resonator back. The banjo is finished in high gloss lacquer. Shipped in a Superior hardshell case.
