For sale is my RARE 1967 Baldwin model B mahogany banjo; SN/ BP 688. This banjo began its life as a plectrum and has a TRUE replica mahogany Baldwin model B neck with style D inlays. True to the 1967 Baldwin D inlay pattern, it has the propeller inlay at the 22nd fret. It has the standard Baldwin 27- 1/8" fret scale; truss rod adjustment through the end of the heel; neck was built by Tommy George and it is a incredible replica Baldwin neck. There are no dings, dents in this 39 year old Baldwin. The nickle plating is in excellent shape. Has a fresh setup with new Remo head. Banjo will ship in a like new hard shell case.
Those of you who are familiar with model C and D Baldwin banjos, know the power and tone of these walnut beauties. Now imagine, the same power, volume, slim fast neck but with that deep mahogany tone that many of us also come to appreciate. This is a power house mahogany Baldwin banjo. (Side note: Earl Scruggs was a Baldwin dealer back in the day. His personal Baldwin banjo was a model B. Earl sent the neck back to the Baldwin factory to have the style D inlays put in his neck, as he much preferred the fancier style D inlay as he also preferred the mahogany tone of the Baldwin.)
The C and D models are plentiful. But you won't find another Baldwin B like this one, or one in better shape. Sorry- no trades.
Thanks for looking!
