(Holiday Sale Price will be 100.00 less if purchased during the Holiday Season)Up for sale is a "recently converted" prewar Kalamazoo (Made by Gibson) to five-string banjo. This is the seventh one of these that I have done and as I continue to refine the process the sound gets even better. This is the best one yet. The Kalamazoo's were made in the 1930's by Gibson and were made with shoe and lug construction and did not originally have a flange on them. On this one I took the eighty year old rim and sent it off to First Quality Music to have an inner ply of their "Factory Floor" rim added by them. They then turned the rim for a modern one-piece flange and this banjo has a old unplated "Ryan " tonering. The resulting banjo has the two key components that contribute to the '"old sound" ,being the eighty year old rim (now full thickness) and resonator along with quality modern metal parts. This banjo has a nice curly maple neck with dot inlays (like the original) in the Rosewood fingerboard and the peghead is shaped to match the original with period correct "Kalamazoo" stenciled on it. This is an amazing sounding banjo with great response up and down the neck, lots of volume , big bass and the "old sound" of a prewar Gibson. Easy to play . Comes with an older hardshell case. I am very pleased with the results and am convinced that whoever gets this one will not be dissapointed. Price at this time is 1795.00 plus shipping. Please feel free to call me at 612-756-4588 with any questions. I will put together a sound clip and get some photos that I can e-mail to serious inquiries. This banjo is also advertised locally. Thanks for looking, Mike Guggemos P.S. Here is an exact quote from the gentleman that purchased that last one of these "The Banjo arrived today. I think it's great. The sound is even better than I had hoped for. I can't believe how easy this one is to play compared to my old one. Great job on her. It's just what I was looking for."
