Circa 1890 Gatcomb Standard model 15 serial number 6798.
11 inches spun over rim in great condition with very little plating wear for it's age.
Original Cherry Neck in excellent condition. I re finished it because I had to install a new Ebony head plate and a new ebony heel cap. (The original ones were missing.) Neck is straight as an arrow, frets are in very nice condition and have been leveled and polished. All the inlays are in good condition, Fingerboard show no wear marks. This banjo has not been played much.
The neck has the Gatcomb neck adjustment system in working condition that works by turning a small screw on the heel side that gives the neck more angle.
Original tailpiece in very good condition.
New unbleached bone nut.
Original bracket shoes.
New nickle plated hooks and nuts.
Original tension hoop.
New calfskin head
New Ebony tuners
The banjo is strung with Aquila Nylgut stings
Low Action on the neck with a 5/8 inch bridge. 26 inches scale. The banjo is easy to play and deliver an authentic Old time sound ideal for traditional frailing and clawhammer style.
Restored by Carl Arcand in December 2012.
