Excellent condition & all original Lyon & Healy "The Star" 5-string Open back banjo. Thick, solid mother-of-pearl neck heel cover engraved with "THE L & H STAR BANJO CHICAGO U.S.A."& 11 inch, double-spun metal rim. EVERY tension hook, shoe, nut, internal screw, slotted tension hoop, tuner is original, matching, & complete as well as double-row 5-pin tailpiece (stamped either "LyonHealy" or "Linbrook"), bone nut, 5th string pip, & every piece of inlay is matching, complete, & intact. Dowel stick is high-end, notch-carved (like upper end S.S. Stewart's) & has brass banding at both ends respectively where dowel meets the rim...& fancy brass plate around dowel at the neck end. Dark & light alternating wood strips under ebony freeboard & runs around the entire headstock. Very vintage (very possibly original) near mint, tight, quality calfskin head. Quality. Moderately fancy MOP fret markers at 5th, 7th, 10th, & 12th frets." Frets intact with super-minimal (if any) wear. This is a very complete, all-original, XLNT condition, professional-grade, 1890s-made collector's & player's banjo.
