This banjo consists of the following:
Genuine 'Greg Rich era' Gibson RB-3 neck and resonator, Sullivan 'Factory Floor' rim, Sullivan tone ring, Prucha flange, and RK hardware. The tuners look to be Golden Gates, and are not that great. However, I have a set of Gibson marked tuners that I'll include in the sale.
Fantastic, dry, rich mahogany tone, with excellent playability. I'd put it up against any post-war Gibson RB-3 made. The Factory Floor rim and older Sullivan ring are one great combo.
The neck and reso both have had small repairs done, and have been refinished. It's not a high-gloss, silky smooth finish. Both have more of a vintage look and feel. The neck has had a wooden heel cap added, and the reso has a small repair on the inner sidewall.
If you've been wanting an RB-3, but don't want to drop 2500-3000 on one, this is a great option. It has all the tone one could ask for in a modern Gibson mahogany banjo, IMO. I feel I have priced it fairly, but am certainly open to reasonable offers.
It will come shipped in a modern 'The Gibson' hard case.
I'll also consider selling the pot assembly separately, and then the neck and reso as a pair. If you are interested in either, just drop me a line.
