This is one of the most beautiful banjos ever made. This 4-string Gibson Florentine Plectrum Banjo hasn't been played for several years and needs a lover of banjos to own, and play it. The banjo belonged to my father-in-law who took amazing care of everything he owned. This banjo is no exception. I have yet to find even a minor scratch or chip in it's finish. He special ordered it, new, from Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan in January of 1977. I know for sure that the time frame of 1977 is correct, because I have an envelope from Gibson dated January 10, 1977. I also have an appraisal dated April 27, 1977 for $4200.00. The banjo was probably made by Gibson’s custom shop some time between January and April 1977, and has a #13 on it's label of authenticity. I've had a difficult time finding information on this model because of the rarity of the piece. I contacted Gibson, and they replied that their record keeping was not real good at that time. The banjo is a work of art for any collector or enthusiast and is in near perfect condition! The outer case, and inner case for this piece dates to the same period. The outer case shows virtually no signs of wear, and the inner case looks brand new. I have additional pictures for anyone interested in the banjo and the two cases.
