10 3/4" Vega Style "N" pot #33912 (late 1916?) with complete original hardware and an old Slingerland calfskin head. Conversion hard curly maple 5-string neck by Pete Roehling, with ornate engraved inlays -and a carved & engraved truss rod cover as well. Low action, but with 20+ years fret wear and a few minor finish chips in the back of the neck. 4:1 Planetary tuners, geared 5th string tuner, abalone nut, and ramped 5th string nut as well. There are two small holes in the side of the neck where the previous owner once had a sliding 5th string capo installed, but those can be filled -although not hidden- on request. The banjo plays very well indeed with a sweet tonality well-suited to Clawhammer style players, and works well behind vocals too. The pot has been slightly modified to raise the tone ring circa 1/64" above the pot, resulting in a slightly louder and brighter tonality; but the modification can easily be reversed if desired by simply removing the tiny brass brads that now support the tone ring. There is no case.
