I purchased this banjo from Richard Smith new about 8 months ago. It is number 404. It has about 1 hour playing time on it. It is in the same condition now as it was when purchased. I'm only selling it because I have too many to give it the attention it deserves, and we have a baby on the way.
The banjo plays super smooth and produces a great tone. The craftsmanship is top notch, its a beautiful instrument. This one is walnut with a mahogany neck.
According to Mr. Smith, "The body is 10 inches it diameter. The head is 6 inches in diameter. The distance between the nut and the bridge is 26 1/4 Inches. Unlike mos old-time banjos of this sort, there is a 2 degree angle between the neck and the body, where most are flat. This angle puts the right amount of pressure on the bridge to hold it against the head and help transmit the sound better and truer."
