I am selling this banjo ONLY because I got a great deal on a Sullivan. I'd like to keep it...but the wife won't allow it. This is a great beginner banjo at a great price.
I purchased this banjo from the Banjo Hut in July 2011 (there's a link below to the Banjo Hut site that takes you to the exact model). I bought the Sullivan in October. So, this banjo is like new (obviously).
This is the Mastercraft Classic Maple. According to the folks at the Banjo Hut, it has a brass loop tone ring which vibrates along with the head and strings to give the player a great bluegrass sound. They also state that the maple version is a little brighter in tone versus the classic mahogany version. Frankly, I don't have the expertise or experience to know if that is true...but I doubt they'd say it if it wasn't true.
The banjo has a one piece nickel-plated flange with sound holes which directs the sound back out of the resonator for more volume. It also has planetary tuners.
It comes with a brand new hard shell case, a strap and I'll even include the book and CD that was with it when I bought it.
Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for looking.
