This is a Moranville Banjo made by John Moranville, a Colorado luthier since 1972. It has abalone purfling on the neck and a hand carved neck heel. The basic banjo has a no hole archtop and 2 keith tuners.
I am selling this for the widow of a banjo picker from Hill City SD. She would like a quick sale and has no particular emotional attachment to this instrument. I have spend two full days cleaning and polishing this banjo and it has a nice crisp sound. I can send an mp3 clip to anyone who is seriously interested. I also have high resolution versions of the photos and some additional pictures. The Ivory truss rod cover is from reclaimed old piano keys.
As you can see this is a beautiful custom banjo from a long time custom builder.
