SIGNED and Numbered by- Homer Ledford, renowned instrument builder and musician from Winchester KY, made this banjo in the 1980's. I have not seen any others out there, although I know some do exist. It is solid wood: walnut, yellow poplar, and has a simulated hide with openback, and wooden friction tuning pegs-handcarved. Very "old-timey" sound for clawhammer or frailing. Looks like a fretless, only with frets. Quality craftsmanship by a fine builder. Homer Ledford is deceased and his instruments are high quality and irreplaceable. This one is signed by Homer and numbered #497.
I had a minor repair done where the middle string attaches at the bottom on the pot. A Professional instrument repairman did a nice job and it is now ready to go.
Thanks for your interest. :-)
