For sale is my Goose Acres resonator banjo. These do not come up for sale very often, as there were not many made. I purchased this banjo directly from Peter after the store had closed. This is the banjo that hung in the Goose Acres store for people to try out. It features a two piece laminated mahogany neck, three ply maple rim that I believe is a Cox, and a tone ring that was cast locally at a Cleveland foundry. Ebony fret board and dot inlays adorn the wonderful neck. This banjo is unique in that there is no truss rod access from the headstock. Rod adjustments are made from the heel end of the neck. Mr. Smakula received a patent for this design, and it seems very stable. Uses a single coordinator rod. Some slight scratches on resonator. Spikes at 7,9, and 10. Metal is tarnished, but frets are excellent. Just a really solid example of a small maker instrument from a really unique shop. I hate to sell this one, but for me the real treasure was getting to know Mr. Smakula, no matter how briefly. I enjoyed him very much and those memories are worth more to me than the instrument. Here is a chance to own a rare piece of handmade history from the Cleveland, Ohio area. Ships in hard shell case.
