I'm selling my 2001 OB-250. It is in very good condition. The only reason I don't say excellent is because the previous owner had spikes installed at one point and then switched to a Shubb capo. He broke off the spikes at 7 and 8. I removed the Shubb and installed spikes again at frets 7 through 12, placing them next to the old positions. They work well with no buzzing etc. I replaced frets 1 through 9 about a year ago so there is VERY little wear on them. The banjo has excellent action and intonation. I replaced the original nut with one I made of Mother of Pearl. I made the bridge out of maple and ebony I picked out at the local hardwood store. I just put a new Remo frosted head on yesterday when I took the banjo apart to clean all the hardware to ready it for sale. This banjo has great tone and incredible volume. It will cut through the jam when you push it. You will see in the pictures that it now has a Presto-style tailpiece rather than the straightline. That is the only piece of metal or wood hardware not original to it besides the frets I replaced. The case is a Washburn and is included, though two of the latches have broken springs.
Reason for selling - It is too heavy for me these days. I must be getting old. If you have a strong back and want a great-sounding and looking banjo for the money, this may be the one.
