A circa 1998 Stelling Staghorn banjo in excellent-plus condition. The finish on this flagship model’s Claro Walnut wood is free of any scratches, dents or buckle rash – it is pristine. With the exception of the armrest, all nickel-plated hardware has very little tarnish. A very small amount of fret wear on the first four frets, but absolutely NO fret wear from the fifth fret on. No wear whatsoever to the ebony fretboard. A Remo Renaissance head graces the pot assembly as does an 11/16-inch Stelling-brand bridge. The wood rim is three-ply maple and factory original to this 15-year-old banjo, installed before the Tony Pass block rims became standard. Factory installed capo spikes at the seven, eight, nine and ten fret positions. This Staghorn comes with a new Stelling hardshell case that sports plush green padding (the Stelling logo is emblazoned on the outer lid). The reason for selling this banjo? I’ve given my heart to the ‘pre-war’ sound of the Huber ‘Truetone’ banjos. I currently own a Huber VRB-75-41 Truetone and also have a custom VRB-4 Truetone on order. The sale of this Staghorn will help finance my new acquisition. The $3,295 sale price (plus $95 shipping charge) is an outstanding value for this flagship model Stelling and is ONE-THOUSAND DOLLARS LESS than comparable used Staghorns on today’s market. This banjo is priced to move, so don’t wait!
