(will reduce by 100.00 to 1295.00 if purchased by Feb. 20th)Up for sale is a 1930's Gibson Tb-00 conversion to 5-string. The neck is a nice flamed maple with an amber sunburst that is a pretty good match to the original resonator. The fingerboard is rosewood with the "diamonds and squares " inlay pattern. It has a "double cut" peghead with "Gibson" and the diamonds and squares on it. The flange is a modern "Gibson USA" The armrest and tailpiece are modern. The original rim and resonator are not modified or altered in any way and the banjo still has the original hooks and nuts and tension hoop. This banjo sounds surprisingly good ,considering that it has no tonering( not even a brass hoop) but just the original raised wood bead that was turned in the rim at the factory. I also put prewar "grained Ivoriod" buttons on the tuners to give it the vintage look. This banjo is in excellent condition and has lots of volume. It is very light weight and easy on the back. Cool banjo for the money. It comes with a hardshell case. If it doesn't sell like this, I will likely have the rim cut for either a thin-skirt flathead tonering or even an archtop to flathead conversion ring as either of these will make for a really good sounding prewar banjo at an affordable price. The price (for right now ) is 1395.00 plus shipping and insurance. Pictures and a sound clip are available for those who are serious potential buyers. Thanks for looking.
