30's Gibson Kel Kroydon
20 hole Blaylock unplated tone ring
Mahogany neck with wood from an old storefront door jamb, excellent grain and not very heavy, simple diamonds and dot inlay, ebony board, slight V shape like the old Gibson's from the 30's I have sold some neck blanks of this wood to some prominent banjo players!
Waverly V-2 tuners
The pot has been repainted black on the rim and reso sides (previous owner had stripped it down to the wood)
The original one piece flange is broken and replaced with a 50's Gibson flange that Steve Huber turned to fit the rim, it is nickle with good patina so it looks right!
The tension hoop and armrest were replated to chrome (original owner) but are in good shape
Hooks and nuts and all other pot hardware are in original cond.
The back of the reso has been touched up on the stencil and not very well but I just think it is part of the strange history of this banjo! I bought this banjo as a tenor from a Gentleman in Alberta, Canada. I think he loved and played this banjo quite a bit!!
This is a great sounding banjo , a players banjo I would not say it is a collectors piece. Thats why I have it priced at $2500 instead of $3500 or more as most pre war banjo's are. It will stand tall in any jam or stage and it sounds better the more it is played! Great with the capo on in A and B !
Comes with the original neck and flange with the broken pcs.
Decent Hardshell case.
If you would like to try it I would give you a trial period as long as you are willing to pay the shipping!
I will put some sound bites in the Swap Shop forum! Take a listen!!!
Thanks Rock from Kalamazoo
