Custom Wildwood open-back, built in 1997. This is a long neck version like the Pete Seeger Vega banjo. Beautiful birdseye maple neck with a nice volute at the headstock, ebony neck stripe, ebony heel plate, ebony peghead. Mother of pearl tuner buttons with planetary tuners and geared fifth string tuner. Mother of pearl "wildwood" inlay and star at the headstock, star inlay at the 5th string tuner, pearl dots for other fret positions. Maple pot with tubaphone tone ring and fyberskin head, nickel hardware, ivoroid binding on neck and pot. This is a gorgeous banjo and has only the lightest signs of use. Frets look essentially new with very little wear. The fifth string Shubb capo was installed by Wildwood, but is easy to remove (just three little screws) if you prefer to add railroad spikes.
Great tone, it has the bright, punchy sound you expect from a tubaphone tone ring. Includes a Paige capo that fits over the headstock when not in use and also includes a new two-tone (reversible) suede strap. Includes original hardshell case with red plush lining and good padding, the tolex covering is worn in a few spots but it is a solid, functional case.
This is a steal for anything under two thousand dollars!
