I have a little 4 string I’m looking to sell, OR trade.

Let me explain what this is.
This is a simple tenor banjo that came out of an attic somewhere in basically sound shape. I put some guitar tuners on it; they’re a little stubborn but functional. The perch pole had been cut and a metal bar bent to accommodate a screw had been used as an extension. I dumped that, doweled the perch pole and glued it up so the perch pole could do its job without the metal extension.
The 11 inch rim hardware has tarnished seriously, but is for the most part serviceable. There are some nuts that just barely tension, and some hooks that are hanging on by force of gravity and luck more than anything mechanical. One hook is missing a nut
I wired up a teak tailpiece – I didn’t have a four string tailpiece and I was looking to do something expedient rather than searching for the artful solution.
It plays decently, surprisingly – though out of caution I haven’t tried tuning the thing to scale. I have an old 4 string bridge on the thing.
In short, this is a bottom feeder with a basically decent sound that might enable someone to see whether they wanted to go the four string route before spending any serious money on a banjo.
It might also be a good “toy” for that child who needs to have an instrument he or she can call his own – a way of convincing the kid to keep their hands off your Granada …
I’m going to put this up for 50 bucks -- OR best offer.
Someone could detach the rim and get some mileage from it. Maybe use the neck on a cigar box rig. Or toss it in the back of your truck for those times when you want something with strings to pick at without having to run the risk of spoiling a real nice banjo.
In this video I have it tuned to itself and I’m playing it with a pick – I’m a clawhammer player. I don’t know my way around a 4 string. Just wanted to give a sense of the sound.
15 bucks should cover shipping.
I'd gladly trade for this: maybe a tailpiece, tuners, hardware, whatever.
Thanks,
Lew
