For sale is a long-neck resonator Banjo by Tenada (Japan), most likely manufactured in the 60ies, maybe early 70ies.
Even though I described the condition as good, I would go as far as to say "very good vintage condition, commensurate with its age".
It was inspected by a professional who straightened the neck and played a few tunes. On this occasion the bridge was adjusted, which is why there are a few marks on the drum from its previous position.
It may be the perfect fit, if you always wanted to try out a long-neck banjo and you are looking for an inexpensive offer.
Most importantly, though, it is a very good-looking banjo, and I got compliments wherever I took it... so here are a few more details about the instrument, in case it's not well visible in the pictures. Please note that I don't have any actual information on wood and other materials, so I describe what it appears to be:
- dark reddish body and armrest (mahogany or cherry?)
- ivory colored accents on resonator sides and discreet ivory/red/black pattern on resonator front
- caramel-colored neck
- mother-of-pearl inlays (rectangular with rounded corners)
- clean pegs, only 5th-string peg is a bit of a tough guy
- few minor cosmetic imperfections
- strap hook on body
I'm selling because I am learning clawhammer and got an open back banjo for that. I will also move back overseas soon and can't take both with me.
