The Kit comes with the goatskin attached. Simply remove it, sand the wood, stain and finish and reassemble it. Nothing to cut, drill or make. All the parts are handmade here in my shop. This is a William Boucher minstrel banjo replica. The strings are minstrel Nylgut. They are thicker strings, yet very easy to finger. Open G becomes open D because the pitch is lower. You can play clawhammer style, minstrel single stroke style, or just strum and sing. This is a great banjo for Civil War reenactors and banjo nuts who want a low, loud & mellow sound. Super easy to assemble, super easy to play. The rim is a big 12 5/8" diameter and 3 1/4" deep. The scale length is 27", slightly longer than modern banjos.
