This gorgeous banjo is in excellent condition. Top-notch quality, flawless craftsmanship. It's currently set up with Nylgut strings, but it also sound great with steel strings.
  • Beautiful flamed maple 12" rim, skin head
  • Flamed maple neck, striped ebony fretboard
  • Rim cap, heel and peghead overlays are burled cherry
  • Brass fretboard plate and hardware
  • Custom thumb scoop under the 4th and 5th string (just as effective as a full scoop IMHO)
  • Catamount tone ring produces a great sound. Will Fielding describes it: "A brass ring seated on brass pins that cross the top of the rim. This separates the brass ring from the wood rim, allowing the ring to resonate freely. The Catamount has a full range, bass through treble."
  • Hard shell case included
This banjo was custom made for Tom Collins, back in 2007 (I think). See Tom Collins play in his video: Elements of Round Peak Banjo Part 3 I've had this banjo for about two years. I enjoy playing it, but when it comes to fretless, I much prefer my low-tuned John Bowlin 1865. I have no way of knowing, but my guess is that this banjo sold for around $3,000 new. I got a good deal on it, so I'm selling it for much less than it's worth, looking for a quick sale.
