This is a Bruno Conqueror 19 fret tenor that I converted to a 5 string. It has about a 23" scale and tunes to G easily as well as G modal and double C etc. I play clawhammer so I played with resonator off and a sock under the co-rod and it has a neat sound with good pop and volume especially with the lightweight homemade bridge. If you want a darker sound just use a heavier bridge and loosen the head a bit. The action is fairly low and very playable over the neck or head. The conversion came out nice using a piece of bocote wood to support the bone pip. As can be seen from the photos, I did not widen the fingerboard from the pip to the rim so the 5th string has no fingerboard under it. I saw this done somewhere a little differently but the principal is the same: the 5th string is a drone string that is rarely fretted so why do you need a fingerboard under it on a 23" scale banjo. It's not like you're going to capo up so you would need RR spikes! Honestly I don't even notice that the fingerboard isn't there when I play. For those who like the resonator sound it's even louder. The resonator has a couple of places where the veneer is split and lifting a bit but may be able to be repaired with glue and clamps. The frets show some wear but I've not had any problems with buzzing at all. Also has matching armrest that is flimsy but works. This banjo saw much use back in the day by a local group as a tenor and has the usual dings, scratches and etc.from many years of playing. Would make a unique travel/campfire banjo. I have a beat up case that may help to protect in shipping. I may list this in other venues so reserve the right to end listing early.
