Very special Robin Smith HEARTLAND 5 string banjo with tunnelled fifth string. Mahogany neck has an ebony fingerboard with STAINLESS STEEL frets so you will never need a refret. The inlay pattern is the same one Sammy Shelor uses on his banjo with the small gulls on it. RR nails at 7, 9, and 10 fret locations. The scale length is 25-1/2" like the Stealth banjos. The resonator is a Gill, also in mahogany with concentric circles on the back. The pot consists of a Cox 3 ply maple rim with a custom unplated archtop tone ring that is only 1/4" high and very lightweight. I can not reveal the maker of this tone ring to the public because it is a prototype but I will let the buyer know the maker.
Don't be fooled - even though this banjo is a several pounds lighter than a traditional Mastertone-style banjo it still has all the tone and volume you want with great lows, balanced mids, and great cutting power when played in a band setting. The rest of the hardware is made by Prucha (flange, c-rods, tension hoop, hooks & nuts, armrest, tailpiece). The tuners are Waverly V-2s. All in all this is a super banjo, professional quality and assembly. Will ship in a nice TKL hardshell case. I will consider trades for prewar Gibson conversion banjos or parts.
