Jason did not build but a few "bluegrass models" ... these are very rare, and collectible. Jason is a superb luthier... his craftsmanship is second to none.
I am only playing clawhammer... and can no longer justify just "admiring" this lovely piece. This banjo deserves to be played by a caring owner.
The following is directly taken from the Romero Banjo website:
•2-piece Santos mahogany neck with J1 peghead
•11” Santos Mahogany rim with T45 tone ring
•Ebony fingerboard, peghead veneer, heel and rim veneers
•Santos mahogany resonator
•sun inlay of paua abalone and gold mother-of-pearl
•flamed maple binding
•catalyzed lacquer finish
•hardshell Case
It is in near mint condition and has recently had the frets dressed, set-up and a new head installed.
When I last emailed Jason, he estimated this banjo would now cost $3200... plus this one has a custom santos arm rest ($150), which he made for me.
