I have a banjo I recently purchased for a friend who is now unable to purchase the banjo-so it's available: It's a new RK-35 'pot' ('Mastertone' style flat head tone ring, one piece flange, nickel plated hardware) with a like-new neck and resonator from a RK-50 (one piece mahogany neck, 'fan style' inlay pattern, rosewood finger board, and mahogany resonator with the 'style 3' concentric rings in the back, with the glossy finish). To some it may be regarded a considerable 'upgrade' from a standard RK-35, as the '35' has a three piece maple neck (laminated peg head and heel), plain maple resonator, with the 'satin finish'. We're dealers for Music Link, and will stand behind this banjo 100%. It has 'spikes' installed at the 7th and 9th fret, and we'll do our best to make sure it's 'set up' and ready to go if you'd like to have it. Feel free to drop me a line if you're interested in hearing more about the banjo. In my opinion it's the ideal banjo if you like a mahogany 'Style 3/75' banjo. This banjo is a professional quality instrument: the scale is right, it's expertly assembled, sounds great, and plays great. It's good enough to be someone's 'main banjo', and for the money would certainly make for a great '2nd banjo' or 'road banjo' for the player who needs a top shelf instrument but doesn't want the liability of traveling with a more expensive instrument. We've had several RK-35s and they've ALL been great-a great value for a great banjo. On the other hand, the RK-50 was one of the best banjos-ESPECIALLY for the money-I've ever seen. They sounded great as they came from the factory (without a tone ring)-and any of the RK-50s we had would easily 'hold their own' with many 'Mastertone style banjos in the volume and tone department. I personally prefer the simpler inlay pattern and binding appointments over some of the fancier models. This particular banjo seems to be a perfect combination of the two... It ships in a like-new TKL hard shell case..
