I am the second owner of the banjo. It was 3 months old when I bought it from an estate sale. The deceased gentleman lived next door. The only time the banjo has been outdoors is when I carried it from his house to mine!! The banjo's serial number is 1173101. The Deering Company told me it was made in December 2001. I have slowed down playing the banjo as I am now "3 score and 10". The maple wood of the neck and resonator are flawless and beautiful! All the metal parts ie: tension hoop, tuners, strings, armrest are excellent. No tarnish anywhere. The original Deering hardshell case is perfect. The head has a spot where my "pinky" has rested. That "spot" is the only distraction from labeling its condition "MINT". Any buyer would not be dissappointed with its appearance, playability and powerful bluegrass sound!! The banjo's list price is now approaching close to $5000. I'm offering it for less than half of that. The banjo will be professionally wrapped for shipment to anywhere in the continental US. The cost to the buyer will be $75. If it costs more, I'll pay it. Thank you for considering a purchase.
